1. What is the xTool O1 Omni?
It’s a desktop printer that does four kinds of printing all in one machine. It combines UV printing, direct-to-garment (DTG), direct-to-film (DTF), and UV DTF, so you can decorate rigid products, promotional items, apparel, and transfer films, all in one. Making it a great investment for your business in South Africa.
2. What is UV DTF?
UV DTF lets you make peel-and-stick decals. The printer prints UV ink onto transfer film, and the film is then laminated into a water-resistant, peel-and-stick decal. These are great for tumblers, bottles, helmets, phone cases, and other accessories.
3. What materials can I print on?
It handles acrylic signs, wood plaques, metal awards, glass, ceramic, phone cases, tumblers, and promotional products. Fabric versions also print on cotton and polyester T-shirts, hoodies, and sneakers.
4. Which version should I buy?
Often the most confusing question. There are 2 bundles Neotronics offers:
• Single UV including rotary: one Epson F1080 printhead with CMYKWV ink, for direct UV and UV DTF on acrylic, wood, metal, glass and ceramic. This suits hard goods and stickers. Rotary option for bottles and flasks.
• UV + DTG Fabric: a dedicated textile printhead adds DTG and DTF on a 300 × 390 mm platen, while the UV head still covers hard goods and UV DTF. Great option if you want the best of both worlds.
If you want to print T-shirts, choose the UV + DT Fabric edition. For this price, it is a steal.
5. Can the base model print on T-shirts?
No. The base edition only does UV printing for rigid hard goods. Apparel printing (DTG/DTF) requires the UV + DTG versatile bundle.
6. Do I need a laminator for UV DTF stickers?
Yes. You will need this for UV DTF, but making finished stickers, transfers, and decals requires the xTool LM1 Laminator, which is also used for foil stamping. Budget for it if you plan to sell decals. The versatile option from Neotronics is a great option.
7. What else do I need for DTF T-shirt printing?
DTF needs DTF film, adhesive powder, and a heat press for curing and transferring. These are not included with the printer.
8. How big is the print area?
Standard Print Area: 330 × 122 mm
Large Print Area: 330 × 420 mm
DTG Garment Area: 300 × 390 mm
9. What print quality can I expect?
Print resolution is 720 × 1440 dpi. It can also do raised, textured prints. Raised tactile texture builds up to 7 mm, with a library of more than 2,000 textures in xTool Studio through Neotronics. The quality is great!
10. Can it print on cups and tumblers?
Yes. Cylindrical drinkware pairs with the OR1 rotary attachment.
11. Can I use any brand of ink?
No. The O1 uses a closed cartridge ink system. This reduces maintenance and helps prevent clogs, but it means you have to buy xTool inks only. Neotronics stocks O1 inks and consumables locally, so you don’t have to import them.
12. Is the ink safe?
The UV inks are non-reprotoxic and GREENGUARD Gold certified. As with any UV printer.
13. Will the printheads clog if I don’t print often?
The O1 has built-in maintenance. It includes automatic white ink stirring and circulation, plus automatic printhead moisture protection. We still recommend turning it on regularly and leaving it powered. We recommend cleaning it at least once a week. Neotronics can provide some tips and assist with a cleaning kit for the machine.
14. What about load shedding?
Because the printer uses automatic ink circulation, it works best when it stays powered on. We recommend a UPS or inverter backup so power cuts don’t interrupt prints or maintenance cycles. Solar power is another option.
15. What software does it use?
It uses free xTool Studio. xTool Studio combines design, RIP file conversion, and machine control. Neotronics has software videos for you to learn and understand. It is simple and easy.
16. Does it work with my xTool laser?
Yes. You can connect the O1 and your xTool laser in the same software and split one design, so the O1 prints the colours, and the laser cuts the outline. Careful setup needs to be done. Advise to only use this option once you’re completely familiar with both machines.
17. Can I print long runs of UV DTF stickers?
Yes. Combining the Roll Feeder and Laminator lets you print up to 14m of UV DTF transfers
18. Is this good for starting a small business?
Yes. It replaces several separate machines, which reduces overall costs, so you can offer branded gifts, corporate promo items, signage, stickers, and custom apparel from one desktop setup, which comes from a reliable supplier in South Africa.
